Former Navy SEAL Says, ‘We are Called To Fight’
The greatest weapon that men have to charge the kingdom of darkness with is the gospel, former Navy SEAL Chad Williams recently told TVMC.
The Treasure Valley Men’s Conference ‘26 guest speaker said that the battle in this world is real and we are called to fight.

“Every card carrying Christian in the Treasure Valley is a soldier for Christ,” Williams said. “You're not supposed to be entangling yourself with the affairs of this world. You're supposed to be about your father's business, and that's advancing the kingdom. That's sabotaging the plans of the enemy of our soul.”

Williams is author of SEAL of GOD which follows his extraordinary journey through 25 grueling weeks of BUD/S training and onto the hostile streets of Al Anbar Providence, Iraq where he witnessed the horrors of war up close. Along the way, he shares his own radical conversion story and discovers the true meaning of ultimate sacrifice.
“The biggest battle that we are in is like C.S. Lewis said, ‘We are in enemy occupied territory.’ That is what this world is,” Williams said. “However, Christianity is the story about how our rightful King has landed. You might say in disguise, and now He's calling us all to take part in His great campaign of sabotage.”
“It is important that we get involved in this battle because it is our calling and the inspiration that we receive from those who have gone before us. In our Steel Creed, it says that in the worst of conditions, I'll rely upon the legacy of those who have gone before me to steady my resolve and to guide my every deed.”
Williams shared how men can learn about spiritual warfare from throughout the Bible.
“Moses got this call from God to go and deliver what we could call a weaponized message, and that message was ‘Let my people go,’ which essentially is a declaration of independence,” Williams said. “The real power in that message? It's not Moses, it's not the eloquence of the words, but it's in the one who commissioned the message. It was God who did the heavy lifting at that moment.”
“What happened at that moment? They were let go. They were let go from slavery, from captivity, from bondage, from sin. In a similar way, just as they had a pharaoh in their day that had them in this captivity and this slavery, yet they were set free by a weaponized message,” Williams said.
“In a similar way, just like Moses, we are called by God to simply go deliver a message to a captive people who are under bondage, slavery, captivity of a pharaoh today. And to anyone that might think that this pharaoh who I'm talking about is political. It's not. It's biblical. It is Satan. He is the god of this world, and so he is the god of this age.”
Williams said he looks forward to giving a message in line with the Treasure Valley Men's Conference focus to awaken men to the reality of spiritual warfare and mobilize them as soldiers for Christ—courageous, disciplined, and actively advancing God’s Kingdom through the gospel and the Word of God.

Days before Chad Williams was to report to military duty in Great Lakes, Illinois, he turned on a television and was greeted with the horrifying images of his mentor, US Navy SEAL Scott Helvenston, being brutally murdered in a premeditated ambush on the roads of Fallujah, Iraq. Steeled in his resolve, Chad followed in Scott’s footsteps and completed the US military’s most difficult and grueling training to become a Navy SEAL. One of only 13 from a class of 173 to make it straight through to graduation, Chad served his country on SEAL Teams One and Seven for five years, completing tours of duty in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Iraq.
